Point Lobos State Park, Carmel, CA. March 2015. Two weeks away from an inbox full of new music was pretty nice, but let’s get back to our regularly scheduled programming, shall we? I’ve had the appropriately titled Speaker Of The House remix of Catey Shaw’s “Human Contact” for a few weeks, Amtrac injected even more energy into CamelPhat’s “Paradigm” and Bobby Brush gave Ne-Yo and Pitbull’s latest collab a bit of piano-flavored house. Frequent RF producers Niklas Ibach (“I’m a Ghost”), St. Lucia (“Froot”) and The Knocks (“Not On Drugs”) diversified their sound with essential

The Magician – Magic Tape 50 (Birthday Edition) ft TCTS, Feder, Zac Samuel, Grades & More

If it seems like I just profiled a Magic Tape, its because I did. The Magician‘s legendary mix series is always a challenged to crack, but Magic Tape 49 was especially difficult for listeners. Luckily, Magic Tape 50 (Birthday Edition) was a lot easier to analyze (not that I had anything to do with deciphering it). The Magician’s 50th edition is nearly as addictive as #49 with a deft blend of deep house, garage and future house and features everyone from Feder and Molotov to Spada and a choice Jessie Ware remix by TCTS. The

Meteora Greece, Feb. 2015. via TRAVELSTACHE If you’re reading this right now, it is finally Spring Break and I am in San Francisco. Please blast these remixes while I take a brief rest from posting. There are updates of classic songs from Rodriguez and Tracy Chapman by Kungs and Bobby Brush x Deep Chills, respectively. There are also plenty of tropical infused remixes from the likes of Mas Tropical, Lost Kings and Tobotok, plus house/disco influenced reworkings from Lefti and The Young Professionals and of course, a Hitimpulse remix of Ed Sheeran covering Genesis (edit

I don’t know where Coleman Hell keeps coming up with these insanely catchy hook, but I’m beginning to think he has a stash hidden somewhere. “2 Heads” and “Take Me Up” were repeat worthy enough for a growing underground following, but new single “Thumbalina” has potential for mainstream heights. Stream “Thumbalina” below and look for Srry Bout Last Nite on April 28th

    Matt Woods – Impression

Stirring vocals are one way to get my attention, but strong songwriting is what pushes many acts to the top of my playlist. Londoner Matt Woods drives home both of those factors on shadowy new single, “Impression”. Woods’ vocals have the pained approach of Chet Faker and Jack Garratt, but grip a darker edge as the narrator describes an encounter he can’t quite shake. The effective artwork emulates the topic as well. Stream Matt Woods’ “Impression” below and look for an EP in the near future. Keep up with on Facebook and Twitter. BONUS: In

I know the Belgian-producer known as The Magician prefers not reveal his tricks (aka songs on his world famous Magic Tapes), but Magic Tape 49 was ridiculous. The 49th edition might take the prize for longest tracklist of the series to uncover, but featured party-ready house tracks from everyone from Arches ft Karen Harding to Just Kiddin and even Moon Boots. Great selections, but lets hope the recently released Magic Tape 50 isn’t so tough to crack. Stream the Magic Tape 49 in full below and individual tracks below. Look out for my recap of

The Chainsmokers – Let You Go ft Great Good Fine Ok

“#SELFIE” was a pop culture phenomenon. “Kanye” was an enjoyable, semi-hilarious anthem. However, when The Chainsmokers stepped into the originals game, new single “Let You Go” is more of what I had in mind. The blasting synth, thumping bass and earworm hook combine for what perhaps is the production duo’s best work (I’m still addicted to the Josef Salvat remix though). Rising indie pop act Great Good Fine Ok was a perfect choice for vocals and collaboration and I’m betting Andrew and Alex could probably snag an album full of choice collaborators with all of
