We’re just getting started with the top 60 tracks of 2014 and here comes #50-14. 50. Mark Ronson – Uptown Funk ft Bruno Mars Here’s the history of my love for “Uptown Funk”. Saw Mark Ronson was dropping a song with Bruno Mars and an appearance on SNL was booked before the world even heard the song. Downloaded the song within the hour it came online and added it at the last minute to my November mixtape. Haven’t stopped listening to it/watching the music video since its release. By far one of the most fun

Production duo Solidisco had a stellar year with plenty of originals and remixes to gain new followers in 2014. They occupied two slots on my top remixes list and honestly could have placed more with their party-starting sounds. Those feats gave Solidisco many reasons to celebrate this year and they decided to do so by releasing a free EP, Ready Look Choose. The three track effort oozes with funk-filled disco house that made their productions such a success in 2014. Stream Ready Look Choose below and download free at Soundcloud. Slap Savica, Slovenia. December 2014. via TRAVELSTACHE As you can see, I’ve been tending to year end lists and finals, so Remix Friday has been on the back-burner. There have been plenty of great reworkings over the past two weeks though. Autograf made Pharrell’s Daft Punk-featured track “Gust of Wind” more robot-friendly, Niklas Ibach made Jack Isaac’s ballad “Waiting Here” more anthemic and The White Panda had the foresight to bring together the genius of ODESZA and Blackstreet on “Say No Diggity”. Elsewhere, Addal brought deep house rhythms, Fred Falke provide the synth and Mas

You know I couldn’t just write about 52 songs again, right? 60 seemed about right and I honestly could have picked at least a hundred tracks, but I had to be semi-reasonable. As always, this list is 1000% subjective and representative of the top 60 songs I couldn’t get enough of in 2014. Here we go. 60. Michael Jackson – Place With No Name I don’t typically love posthumous releases (Biggie Duets anyone?), but the Stargate-produced jam captures MJ’s enthusiasm and sounds relevant in today’s pop landscape. That bass line will get ‘cha. 59. The

This is what I get for posting my list of top 50 remixes before the end of 2014, but it had to happen. Montreal producer Pomo gave you another reason to have AlunaGeorge’s latest hit “Supernatural” on repeat with a recent deep house remix. The tracks hums and whirs with spacey synth and percussion as Aluna Francis’ vocals hover amid the intoxicating production. Stream Pomo’s take on “Supernatural” below (purchase on iTunes) and catch up on a few other recent remixes. BONUS: Sade – Nothing Can Come Between Us (Pomo Remix) Aurra – Perfect Date

Here we go. The grand finale of 2014 remixes is here. Check out the individual tracks below and be on the lookout for a DJ mix of the top remixes of 2014 coming real soon… The rest of the list: #50-42 #41-33 #32-24 #23-15 #14-8 1. Lorde-Team (Flume remix) I essentially knew Aussie producer Flume had crafted the remix of the year after 1 listen, but it didn’t start that way. The songs slow intro isolated Lorde’s introduction to “Team” and built in slow fashion with twinkling synth that duped me into thinking this might

Hayden James – Something About You

by • on Dec 12, 14 • in Dance, Electronic • with No Comments

Sydney, Australia-based label Future Classic is at it again. George Maple, Panama and Flume might be some names you’d recognize that they’ve put their stamp on. This time, they dropped off an excellent effort from Hayden James titled “Something About You”. The addictive piece of dance music swirls with the phrase repeated with a bit of vocal distortion that will likely be repeated on neon colored dance floors soon. James’ track will lead the way for Future Classic’s Teen Idols compilation dropping on 12/19 with the likes of Chet Faker, Ms. Maple, Cashmere Cat &#
