Gryffin – Heading Home ft Josef Salvat

When Remix Friday favorite producers elevate their game from reworks to originals, I always root for their continued success. NYC-based Gryffin (aka Dan Griffin) is the latest remix producer to strike out on his own after dropping party-ready remix after remix for the likes of Tove Lo, Banks and one of my personal favorites, Years & Years. Australian singer Josef Salvat was another artist recently reimagined by Gryffin and collaborated with him on “Heading Home”. According to Gryffin, the song originally started as a demo that featured the first verse, which Dan molded with new

    Rationale – Something For Nothing

Its certainly fitting that London based singer/producer Rationale ended 2015 with my favorite track of the year and kicks off 2015 with my first post of the year. “Something For Nothing” is without a doubt worthy to lead the charge. Paced guitar riffs, slithering synth and Rationale’s own memorable and passioned baritone vocals make the soul/disco influenced track ready for many repeat plays ahead. Stream Rationale’s “Something For Nothing” below via Soundcloud (or Spotify) BONUS: The Mire

While I was blasting this collection of remixes during my travels to Costa Rica, I just missed my self-imposed deadline of 12/24 to get this list done (I’m sure you understand). I am glad I waited though because the trip made me wonder how you all consume the tunes I send your way. I currently subscribe to Spotify and Apple Music (a story for another day), but still largely find music via Hype Machine, Soundcloud and my favorite websites. So if you have a moment, please fill out this brief survey so I can determine

2015 was phenomenal for many reasons in my life, from a new career and family milestones, to exciting travels (including a new festival) and plenty more to celebrate. Unfortunately, it did not allow much time for daily posts on all of the new music I managed to squeeze in. Though I did not get a chance to outline the reasons for my love of each of these 60 tracks in typical fashion, all of these songs were constant replays and/or impactful throughout 2015. …that doesn’t mean I can stop myself from writing a few quick

The Pandas are back. It seems insane to think that The Pawprint marks the sixth album from producers The White Panda, but they have steadily amassed an excellent catalog of mash-up albums. The Pawprint is one of the duo’s most cohesive to date and continues the trend of witty titles (“Kanye’s Insane”, “Steal My Anna Sun”) and surprise pairings like TV On The Radio + Jason Derulo (“Wolf Like Cheyenne”) and Naughty By Nature + Steve Winwood (“Jamboree Love”) across multiple genres. The fusion of Rihanna and KONGOS on “B**** Betta Come With Me” is

REMIX: Miike Snow – Heart Is Full Remix ft Run The Jewels

Though it was a late edition to my JayeL Audio 11-12-15 mixtape, Miike Snow‘s bombastic single “Heart Is Full” has quickly become one of my favorite cuts from both mixtapes. Miike Snow (producers Bloodshy & Avant and singer Andrew Wyatt) charmed on Happy To You, the act’s sophomore album that was chock-full of indie pop ear worms that were sonically exciting at the same time. “Heart Is Full” sounds like nothing on Happy To You, but still manages to be addictive and different than anything in indie pop right now. Wyatt’s unique vocals meld expertly

Matoma – Knives ft Frenship & ‘Hakuna Matoma’ album

If you witnessed Norwegian producer Matoma‘s set at Royal Oak Music Theatre last week, you likely had no trouble bouncing and swaying with the tropical house sounds circulating from the venue’s speakers. There is also a good chance you were in a flowered “Dad” shirt or basketball jersey because that seemed to be the crowd’s dress code (another story for another time). If young producer’s demeanor seemed extra joyful, it was because Matoma was celebrating the official release of his debut “album”, Hakuna Matoma. I’m going to assume the appropriate title is a slight nod
