I’m slowly working my way through festival withdrawals post-Wayhome Music & Arts Festival (you could say I’m #wayhomesick). If there is anyone that can get me out of this funk, it is certainly Philip George. The Nottingham producer first caught my attention via The Magician’s Magic Tapes and I still listen to “Love Inside” at least once a weekend. New single “Alone No More” inspires with escalating vocals, spiraling synth, pulsing percussion and danceable rhythms galore. Stream Philip George’s “Alone No More” and previous single “Afraid To Love” below. BONUS: Afraid To Love Mr. Probz-Do

The White Panda – Lean On To The Next One/Try Madness

Mash-up maestro’s The White Panda must have heard me complaining recently at the lack of quality new mash-ups hitting my ears. The duo announced they would be releasing 5 new mash-ups this week, While they are prepping a full album of remixes sure to finish 2015 with bang. The first two releases tackled some of the biggest songs of the past year and paired them with surprising compliments. “Lean On To The Next One” was an instant favorite by capitalizing on Major Lazer/M0’s mega-hit with one of my favorite Hova tracks of the post-Black Album

Alesso – Cool (Two Friends Remix)

LA-based producers Two Friends already have one of my most listened to remixes of 2015 with their bright and synth-filled take on Milky Chance’s “Flash Junk Mind”. Aside from working on new originals, the duo is back with a equally summer-ready remix of Alesso’s hit “Cool”. Two Friends (Matt and Eli) described their reworking as: “…one of our favorite tracks to work on- Alesso always gets awesome and super-catchy vocals for his tracks. Been messing around with a sort of newer-age piano-y vibe lately, and this vocal with that style just seemed to mesh well.&#

The Chainsmokers – Waterbed ft Waterbed

The Chainsmokers consistently have the funniest emails accompanying their new music, so it wasn’t surprising that the duo tied that wit to one of the songs. My first listen of new original single “Waterbed” elicited more than a few chuckles, but the track also shows their expanded musical palette. “Waterbed”‘s production is buoyant as well, a waterbed, with a slow build into machine-gun synth. Things get even more interesting at about the 2:30 mark, when euphoric keys and percussion rise with the sonic vocal effects. As for The Chainsmokers’ penchant for song’s named after the

CRUISR – Throw Shade & Moving To Neptune

by • on Jul 17, 15 • in Indie • with No Comments

At this point, you may be convinced Philly quartet CRUISR are a mythical musical creature created specifically for summer indie pop gems. It would be a fair assessment based on the consistent output of jangly, sunshine-ready hooks these guys emit. “Throw Shade” and “Moving To Neptune” are the latest examples of the breezy, yet engaging anthems CRUISR specializes in. “Throw Shade” bounces with peppy guitar, fringe 8-bit synth and a dismissively comical chorus, while “Moving To Neptune” leans back with a call and response ready refrain and tap worthy melody. Remix Friday already dropped, but I couldn’t let Armand Van Helden‘s take on “Holding On” wait until next week. All respect to the brothers Lawrence, but the legendary dance producer intensified the build up for a worthy remix of their latest single in ways that challenge the original’s surpemacy. Just in time for your weekend festivities, right? Stream Armand Van Helden’s remix of “Holding On” below and pre-order Disclosure’s sophomore album Caracal on iTunes (out 9/25)
