What: Harvest For Hope Fest

Where: St. John’s County Fairgrounds, St. Augustine, FL

Line-Up Highlights: Dead Prez, Anti-Flag, Kimya Dawson, Anvil, Sea Wolf, Portugal. The Man, Freelance Whales, Small Brown Bike, Cymbals Eat Guitars
Tickets: 3 day pass: $49.50, 1 day pass: $25, 3 day VIP: $100 (VIP includes camping)
Accommodations: “Primitive” camping sans RVs is available to 3-day pass holders at $19.50 per ticket.
My Take: One of the few festivals that a portion of the proceeds actually goes to a charity. According to the site, “The Harvest of Hope Foundation is a nonprofit organization that provides financial, educational, and service oriented aid to migrant farm workers all over the country.” Harvest for Hope is actually quite a cheap weekend, compared to most fests as well. The line-up doesn’t feature any classic reunions or huge names, but it does include a lot of great bands you’ve probably heard on a blog near you. Dr. Dog and Rogue Wave have built heavy tour resumes over the years and would probably cost more than $50 if you saw them each separately. Mountain Goats have been putting out albums since 1991, so its safe to say they have a strong following. At least the very least, I bet Harvest of Hope would be a fun weekend of camping and you’d probably find a few new bands you never heard before.
