I’m always amazed at the response I get from these hip-hop/rap mixtapes. I’ve been making them since high school and to this day, I get more people asking “when is the next Nark dropping” than I would ever imagine. As is always the case, the amount of garbage rap I comb through to get these is astounding. There simply isn’t as much good hip-hop material to make these mixtapes come out monthly, but I’d like to think that when I finally send these out, its quality from front to back.

The latest Nark features the return of veterans Nas, Obie Trice, Del the Funky Homosapien and Cam’ron all at the top of their game. Well, Cam’ron just proves he is still a nutcase, but everyone else is still reaches heights of past glory. Mainstays like Big KRIT, T.I. and Killer Mike continue to put out quality material, but Kanye really went for the jugular with “Theraflu” and “Mercy”. We already knew Kendrick Lamar had a wealth of potential, but new laid back single “The Recipie” really showcases talent and beat selection as he goes toe to toe with the good Dr. I could also speak on the brewing talents of Children of the Night and Logic, but you’ll soon hear why I’m a fan.

UPDATE: Apparently, the Del track is from his Deltron 3030 project back in 2000. It was new to me and I probably stumbled upon it when looking into his new project w/Attractive Sin. Enjoy a bit of history.

yo! i really enjoy your mixes. a lot of them have hits before they’re even hits. i was excited to see del back but isn’t madness from the deltron 3030 project back in 2000?

  • Thanks for checking out the mixtapes. Apparently, that is an old track from Deltron 3030. Its new to me and I must have stumbled upon it via all the hype surrounding Del’s new project with Attractive Sin. Thanks for the heads up and hopefully, people will enjoy this track as a trip back to 2000.

Been banging the mix this afternoon and been drinking again at work so feel compelled to add a comment or two. Some real gems in here..Nas absolutely destroys it on The Don…typical lyrical prowess by Nas and I still say he ruined his whole career by coming out with such an incredible first album in Illmatic and could never again touch that…classic case of peaking too early.. Damn that A-Town joint makes me nostalgic as hell as and why hasn’t there been any rap songs with a tomahawk chop beat in the back like this one? Real tight.

Also feeling that beat on Mercy – makes me wish I was 18 years old again with a lowered car, big wheels, and two 12’s in the back so I could just cruise around and blast this.

And who the fuck is this Action Bronson character? (besides a legit rap singer with $13 dvds as the songs states) Sounds so much like Ghostface Killer it’s freakin eerie…must be his biological rap son.

And how is TI this good after sitting in jail for like 2 years?!?!?

    That is all…nice mix JT

  • Glad to hear that you are enjoying the mixtapes…and drinking at work again.
Action Bronson is an interesting new NY rapper who definitely sounds like Ghostface (Wallabees!). His most recent mixtape Blue Chips has some quality joints on it.
