First there was Skeetwood Mac, then The Skeetles and now comes more nostalgic fun from The Melker Project on Ballin’ Oates. Hall & Oates’ penchant for infectious pop hits in the ’80’s clearly had an effect on Melker as he expertly pairs the duo’s greatest gems with hip-hop samples you’ll recognize. Not to be content with standard mashes, Melker shows off his musical talents by replaying each song before blending into the final product. The usual hip-hop suspects make appearances, but perhaps the best track is Melker’s own reworking of I Can’t Go For That”. The drumkicks and floating synth invigorates the smooth classic.
