Glitchy, electronic-influenced R&B has been a popular sound in recent years in part to due to the rise of acts like The Weeknd and James Blake. Ladies like BANKS and Lorde excelled in 2012, so I’m glad to hear other songstresses get in the act. Aussie singer/producer Hoodlem exudes cool confidence on her first single “Old Friend”. The stutter paced cut balances Hoodlem’s harmonies with a touch of glitch and bluesy bass that fuels repeat listens of “Old Friend”. Stream below and look out for more Hoodlem soon!
