Friday is here and so are the remixes. The Chainsmokers take a key-driven approach to Chromeo’s latest hit, The Hood Internet expertly pairs Milosh and Missy Elliot and Oliver Helden massively improves Robin Thicke’s “Feel Good”. Elsewhere, Andrew Gentry puts Big Sean with Coldplay for intriguing results, Ryan Kenney makes a dance anthem out of Toto’s “Africa” and Diplo reworks Avicii’s “You Make Me”. My favorite remix of the week includes 4 acts you’d never expect, but I’m glad someone thought to: Big Boi, A$AP Rocky, Phantogram and….A-ha. What’s crazy, is that A-ha is the only addition to “Lanes”, an update of “Lines”, one of my top tracks off of Big Boi’s Vicious Lies and Dangerous Rumors (Amazon).
This week’s throwback is a hip-hop classic and started a wave of remixes in hip-hop, Craig Mack’s “Flavor In Ya Ear” remix ft Biggie, LL, Busta and co-hort Rampage. I can’t even tell you how many times I watched this on MTV. Check out the rest of NahRight’s list of top 20 rap remixes of 1994.
