I’ve already posted about a producer known only as The Magician and an act who seems as if she just appeared out of thin air (newcomer Ryn Weaver today), so let’s continue with the mysterious artist theme. Island Fox returns with a stylish electronic slow burner in “Carbon Flux”. The London by way of Cambridge act’s latest reminds me of Jessie Ware if ODESZA produced for her showcasing soaring vocals, samples and bubbling synth. All good things to my ears.
Island Fox broke down the lyrics as “the feeling I get from surfing; the escape of being in the ocean, the age-old power of the water, and how it cleanses the soul. The chorus tries to bring into focus the carbon cycle and how we’re not sustainable as a society, but how everyone is ignoring that fact; so the verses are about how I ease blame on myself basically.” Stream “Carbon Flux” below and look for more from Island Fox soon.
