Fader had a thorough and interesting feature on budding star Porter Robinson in conjunction with the release of new single “Flicker”. The story gave an in depth profile of PR’s quick rise through the EDM world, but also detailed his anxiety and battle in wanting to be more than pigeon-holed in the genre.
“Flicker” does feature a bassy drop that many faithful fans are looking for, but the track’s doesn’t belabor the genre trope. The boom is only part of a well-balanced pop experiment with a stuttered Japanese poetry sample, sunny synth and bassline. It also makes for the fourth of four great reasons to pick up Worlds on August 12th (pre-order). Every single so far has been an accessible hit (and I love the artwork). Stream “Flicker” below and catch Porter Robinson on the road this fall.
