Halloween is upon us and while I wish I had more themed remixes to offer, this week still had plenty of party-starting remixes. West Coast producer Elephante took on one of my recent additions, Penguin Prison’s “Calling Out” and turned it into one of his top releases in his early career. The Hood Internet kept up their recent run of excellent mash-ups when they paired Tinashe’s addictive hit “2 On” with the danceable sounds of Oliver, while newcomer Notion Sickness brought together a natural partnership of Daft Punk, Justice and JT on “L.U.C.K.Y.”. Hotel Garuda reworked one of my favorite dance divas in Anna Lunoe, IYES put an upbeat stamp on Jack Garratt’s slow burner “Worry”, Cesare gave Fickle Friends an interesting spin, plus Max Joni and Daniele di Martino boldly remixed Rhye’s “Open” and succeeded.
Favorite of the week comes from the nonstop producing hits team, The Chainsmokers. Their take on Josef Salvat’s “Open Season” is downright seductive and a welcome addition to their plentiful and diverse remix catalog.
As far as I’m concerned, there is only one remix that is perfect for Halloween and it is more certainly by A-Trak. His remix of the Yeah Yeah Yeah’s “Heads Will Roll” brings Karen O’s mayhem to the dancefloor in spooky, electronic-infused fashion.
Not too shabby of a week, eh? Listen to individual tracks below and stream the entire Remix Friday 10/31 playlist at Soundcloud (with an appearance by The Melker Project). #TGIF
