So many remixes, so little time. In fact, with the amount of quality remixes that hit my inbox this week, I didn’t even get a chance to search for a top throwback remix of the week.
Bee’s Knees continued their synth and funk-filled hit streak with an excellent reworking of the FunkLordz aka Chromeo and Chuck Inglish’s collaboration on “Legs”. Bvnny returned with an perfect pairing of ODESZA’s own remix of Slow Magic’s “Waited 4 U” plus TSwift’s “Bad Blood” and Poo Bear/Tyga’s “Work For It”. You already know what RAC and Viceroy do when they bless others’ tracks and Katy Perry and Penguin Prison were this week’s beneficiaries. Props to Autograf, Vacationer and Louis The Child for taking indie tracks by The Griswolds, White Arrows and Yellerkin that I thought weren’t remix-able into dance smashes.
I guess you could qualify Mas Tropical’s beach-ready take on The Fugee’s “Ready or Not” as “throwback of the week”, but it dropped last month. In any case, I expect it to be a future throwback I’ll have on blast years from now.
DiscoTech once again earned this week’s honors for favorite remix of the week. Ed Sheeran’s “Don’t” was one of those tracks I was going to avoid remixes of, but these guys kicked it up with more weekend-ready more keys, percussion and energy.
