Seven years between albums feels like an eternity, but folk rocker Jose Gonzalez has managed to stay busy with side band JUNIP and soundtrack appearances. It certainly helps your staying power when hits like “Down The Line” and Gonzalez’ cover of The Knife’s “Heartbeats” feel timeless. The wait for a new solo album is nearly over though as Gonzalez is finishing up his latest album, Vestiges & Claws due on Feb. 17th.
Initial sparse single “Early Age” was an apt reentry for the Swedish artist, but new release “Leaf Off/The Cave” is even more endearing. The percussion driven backing of “Leaf Off/The Cave” iss the perfect canvas for Gonzalez to paint tales in ways only his voice can. The recent live performance with a choir will certainly make you want to get tickets to his upcoming North American tour as well (dates below).
Stream “Leaf Off/The Cave” below and preorder Vestiges & Claws on iTunes.
