Yes, today is an especially bitter cold day for most of us (-9 in Metro Detroit). Today is also Remix Friday, so you have that going for you.
DJ Double A “starts this shit off right” with a head-nod worthy spin on Cee-Lo’s “The One”. I was just about over Sam Smith remixes, but I’ll listen to anything Pomo produces and his take on “Lay Me Down” has particularly intoxicating rhythms. Janet Jackson once again proves my claim as the most “remix-able” artist of all time with Classixx’s remix of “Pleasure Principal”. RF newcomer Lomen and Sebastian Carter crank up the house on Mike Posner’s “Please Don’t Go” and Chelsea Lankes’ “Down For Whatever”, respectively. Elsewhere, Keljet’s interpretation of That’s Nice’s “Holiday” makes me want to head to the beach ASAP and Penguin Prison pushes the tempo of Great Good Fine Ok’s recent single “Too Much To Handle”. Last, but not least, Gazzo + Two Friends’s synth infusion makes even more dance-ready on Echosmith’s “Cool Kids”.
This week’s favorite isn’t a full on revamp of Jack Ü (Diplo + Skrillex)’s Kiesza-featured cut, but Missy Elliott’s spastic energy pushes the already amped up track into overload. The perfect soundtrack to your next workout or post-5pm Friday party.
