There have been entirely too many good remixes to drop in the past two or three weeks. Therefore, I made the executive decision that there shall be not one, but two Remix Friday playlists this week.
Part one is chock full of house-inspired rhythms, for those down with that. Frequent RF contributors Pomo and The Golden Pony inject inspiring influence to hits from KStewart and The Chainsmokers, Kokiri gave Arches’ “New Love” some bounce and new favorite TCTS mades Years & Years’ “King” even more addictive. Elsewhere, Milkman returned with a twitchy take on Misterwives’ “Vagabond”, Todd Edwards applied his dancefloor senses to Tourist’s “Holding On” and JAPLAN proved Betty Who might be the most remixable woman in electro pop right now. Last, but not least, Pat Lok made me rethink my “no more remixes of “Classic”‘ policy with a hypnotic reworking of my soundtrack of last summer.
First favorite of the week had to be the return of Andrew Gentry. He appropriately took advantage of my affinity for Super Duper’s “Angela” and expertly added Biggie’s “Machine Gun Funk” with a bit of Lana. The results were properly intoxicating and Christopher Wallace sounds particularly poignant.
