Remixes galore are typically released just before Memorial Day weekend and I’m sure are hitting my inbox as I type this. Below are my favorite remixes that I’ll be blasting all weekend.
Brenmar, Diplo, Grandtheft, Tiesto and MOTi are all names that equate to a raucous party and they seemed especially appropriate to kick of this week’s Remix Friday. Brenmar assisted Charli XCX in losing control on “Famous”, Diplo and Grandtheft came together to punctuate Rihanna’s sassy hit “BBHM$” and Tiesto and MOTi cranked up the big room feel of Major Lazer’s “Lean On”. It had been a minute since UK producer Fono graced my ears, but his rework of Duke Dumont’s “The Giver” was particularly intoxicating, while The Knocks and Sean Glass brought groove worthy sounds to Future Islands and Flight Facilities cuts. Elsewhere, Treasure Fingers intensified the pulse of The Electric Sons and JackLNDN smoothed out Le Youth’s “TOUCH”.
Favorite of the week came from rising producer Eau Claire and her sunshine disco remix of CAPPA’s “Killin’ It”. Turns out this remix was actually one of five treatments she gave the song and this version’s upbeat vibe definitely matches CAPPA’s melodic sound. The buzzy, circulating beat is perfect for repeat sunset listens.
Also, don’t miss Scott Melker’s latest episode of ADHD radio with DJ Ayres filled with plenty of hip-hop and dance remixes for the long weekend. The introductory mash-up/remix that brings together Ty Dolla $ign’s “Paranoid” and Trickdaddy’s classic “Sugar” is particularly great.
