Lord Huron: When Will I See You Again (live in Sutro Baths)

Outside of San Francisco, tropical folk experts Lord Huron give a glimpse of what they can do live and in-person. How amazing would these harmonies be to see live and in-person on the beach? Get on it DeLuna Fest.

Grammy Battle: Vampire Weekend vs The Black Keys

The Grammy nominations have pretty much been a joke with old, stuffy label heads voting in categories they have no business choosing. I’m pretty sure I remember Will Smith beating Hova for a Best Rap Album Grammy once. Anyways, the past few years the voters have got much better. Here Grammy Winner and voter Stephen Colbert (yea, weird, I know) offers up a pretty hilarious sketch on his choices for Best Alternative Album and the whole notion of indie bands “selling out”.

Take Away Shows: Local Natives & Edward Sharpe

The recent post about The Kickback/Hear Nebraska reminded me of one of my favorite music video outposts on the interwebz, La Blogotheque. See Local Natives sing “Wide Eyes” on a carosel, “Airplanes” on a beach surrounding by some odd wood structures and “Stranger Things” in a coffee shop (?).

Winnie Cooper also got the guys to do a rendition of “Cards and Quarters” in what looks like the back of a school yard: YouTube Preview Image
Also, Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeroes do “Home” and “40 Day Dream” in the streets of San Francisco with the help of some fans.

Videodrome: Mike Posner and Vonnegutt

A couple of up and coming artists I’ve mentioned many a time get some much due video treatment. Check it.

Mike Posner – Cooler Than Me video
Bout time is all I can say. Glad to see it finally happen. Looks like Mike opted to showcase a electrofied version of the Gigamesh remix for the official video. Listen up for a snippet of “Smoke & Drive” in the background. UPDATE: Matt aka Gigamesh informed me that the remix I posted earlier is an incomplete version Mike made for the One Foot Out The Door mixtape. Matt later shortened the mix and add a bridge section, which is now in the video and is the “single mix”.

Vonnegutt – Promo video
You should already have The Appetizer EP (if not, get it here). With a Lollapalooza date coming and signing with new management, its about time a EPK was released. Basically, if you have a friend that doesn’t know Vonnegutt, pass it on. There is definitely a snippet of a new jam that I haven’t heard yet. Sounds pretty good to me.

6/18 – Smith’s Olde Bar – Atlanta, GA

KiD CuDi: "Day 'n Nite" Video

a kid named cudi
I know I posted about KiD CuDi numerous times in 2008 , but I really think 2009 is going to be his year.  Here is the long-awaited, official, G.O.O.D. Music approved video for one of my favorite songs of last year, “Day ‘n Nite”.

Very cool, don’t you think?

If the original version is too laid back, cool, calm and collected for you, try the rowdy version below.
