I first heard Loney, Dear in 2007, when Sub Pop re-released Loney, Noir.  I was intrigued by multi-instrumentalist Emil Svanängen‘s talented song-writing and style, but for some reason never picked up the entire album.  As Loney, Dear, Svanängen crafts catchy, indie pop that meshes well with his soft spoken storytelling.

2 years later, the Sweden native just launched his 5th album, Dear John, on Polyvinyl Records.  The lead single, “Airport Surroundings”, races along while Svanängen confesses his love over a synth and horn soundscape.  Aside from it being a great song, I would kill for someone to mash-up this track with the West Coast classic, “Regulate”.  I swear the vocal acrobatics Loney, Dear uses are similar to Nate Dogg’s flow.
