Mates of State: This Is The Remix

File this under one of the best (and unexpected) ideas of 2009.  Indie pop duo extraordinaire, Mates of State have announced they will be releasing a “spring” EP of remixes.  Re-Arranged : Remixes Vol 1 will feature re-workings of track from their fantastic latest album.  If you’ve paid attention to the Hype Machine at all, you’ll certainly recognize the producers below.  Collectively, I’ve heard quality remixes of everything from Matt & Kim to Lady GaGa to Nirvana.  This should be amazing.

1. You Are Free (Mae Shi Remix)
2. Now (RAC Remix)
3. Help Help (DJ Sega Philly Club ReMix)
4. The Re-Arranger (Flosstradamus Remix)

Interestingly enough, I’m almost positive I heard the Mae Shi remix at the Mates of State concert in Nov.  I loved it so much that I called the venue, e-mailed the label and ended up contacting the band directly.  Here is the response I got:

Thanks! The re mix record with that song you heard will be coming out this spring. See ya next time we’re through ATL or wherever you may move to next..
Jason and kori

I wasn’t even expecting a response, let alone one from their personal e-mail.  Obsessed?  Possibly.  I like to call it passionate.

Mates of State/Notorious B.I.G. – Juicy Free (Heart Attack Club remix)

Lady Gaga – Just Dance (RAC remix)

Matt & Kim – Yea Yea (Flosstradamus remix)
