Indie Pop

Fun.: Indie Pop Supergroup

Persistence pays off I suppose.  Last August, I heard the Format were going on an indefinite hiatus.  I was bummed, but the good news was lead singer Nate Ruess was joining forces with a couple of indie pop favorites, Andrew Dost of Anathallo and Jack Antonoff of Steel Train to create the band, Fun. Their early demo effort, “Benson Hedges”, was just enough to realize how much The Format will be missed.

10 months later, and after an opening slot on a Jack’s Mannequin‘s tour, Fun. crafted their debut, Aim and Ignite.  There isn’t a release date for the album, but signing up for their fan mailing list gets you the lead single, “At Least I’m Not As Sad (As I Used To Be)” free.  It will certainly get the Format fans excited with Nate progressively-paced crooning over a well-crafted bouncy indie pop track about tour stories and sins.

I’m definitely going to be looking out for this project.
