Thursday Linkage: Janelle Monae, Junip, ACL and more

A) Janelle Monae stopped by David Letterman last night. I’m pretty sure you’ll be seeing her a lot more on television this year. Pick up Janelle Monae – The Archandroid here.

B) I mentioned Jose Gonzalez’s group project Junip a few weeks ago. In anticipation for the release of their upcoming EP, the band is giving away the EP free if you sign up for their e-newsletter here. Don’t mind if I do.
C) Pretty Much Amazing took part in a heater of a mixtape full of tracks to get you thru the start of summer-time. It features the likes of Sia, Friendly Fires, The Pass, Free Energy and more. Get it here.
D) Austin City Limits‘ line-up looks particularly sick, too bad 3 day passes are already sold out. Featuring headliners like The Eagles (!), M.I.A., The Strokes, LCD Soundsystem, Flaming Lips and The National, its easy to see why. 1 day passes are still around…for now.
E) Speaking of festivals, if you aren’t in favor of the mammoth size crowds of Bonnaroo or Lollapalooza, Flavorwire just posted a rundown of some pretty great music fests that are less claustrophobia-inducing here.
F) Fans of HBO series “How to Make It In America” are probably already addicted to Aloe Blacc’s “I Need A Dollar”. This mash-up should get the rest of the population on board. The Notorious B.I.G.’s street hustling narrative “Juicy” happens to sound pretty relevant over DJ Dizzy‘s superb mash-up.
DJ Dizzy – Juicy Dollars (Notorious B.I.G. vs Aloe Blacc) (re-up’d)
G) I’ll have a Hangoutfest recap coming soon! Until then, check out this video of the madness that was Greg Gillis aka Girl Talk.
