Happy Remix Day- RAC, Yeasayer, Passion Pit and Calvin Harris

Plenty O’Good remixes dropped this week. Here we go:
-Tegan & Sara – Turnpike Ghost (Steel Train cover/RAC mix)
See if you can follow me here: Tegan & Sara covered Steel Train’s “Turnpike Ghost”, which RAC in turn remixed the hell out of. Pretty great if you ask me.

-N.E.R.D. – Hot n Fun ft Nelly Furtado (Yeasayer Remix)
This single from Pharrell and company was pretty much a dud from the get go. Kyle Lucas made it better with a freestyle, but to me, the original was unlistenable. Good thing the good guys in Yeasayer made into a creepy, yet infectious dark remix. N.E.R.D. featuring Nelly Furtado – Hot N’ Fun (Yeasayer Remix) by Hypetrak
Katy Perry – California Gurls ft Snoop Dogg (Passion Pit remix) (via Minneapolis F***ing Rocks)
Yea, I eventually succomb to many many pop hits, but I’m doing my best to avoid it. It makes it easier to ignore since its essentially the recycled beat of “Tik Tok”‘s pop corpse. Passion Pit does a good job of making pop fluff into danceable fun. If its possible, Snoop actually sounds creepier on this rendition.
Kelis – 4th of July (Calvin Harris remix)
That headline pretty much says it all. One artist who knows how to make crazy electro-fueled dance tracks. Another who knows how to steal Nas’ money. I think you can figure out who’s who?
