Thursday Linkage: k-os, Wale, MoogFest, Freddie Gibbs, and more

Lots of rap/hip-hop news this week. Makes sense. I was a little underwhelmed with Nark & Loathing in Las Vegas.
A) Its been a big week for hip-hop mixtapes this week. Long awaited efforts from k-os and Wale dropped for free and are well worth multiple listens.
k-os – The Anchorman Mixtape
Wale – More About Nothing mixtape
B) Asheville, NC is hosting Moogfest on October 29-31st after moving from NYC. The fest hosts the likes of MGMT, Big Boi, Girl Talk, Pretty Lights, School of Seven Bells and more. Friday looks especially ridiculous. 3-day passes are $150 and 1 days are $75. If I find a money tree anytime soon, I’ll definitely be at this. It is only 3 and 1/2 hours from ATL…
C) Freddie Gibbs sits down with Complex for an interview, where he shit talks about most of the rap game and….pretty much tells it like it is here. Oh, and who wouldn’t be excited about a Gangsta Gibbs and Premo collaboration? Apparently, its happening.
D) I guess the label is trying to capitalize on K’Naan’s buzz from the World Cup, but damn is this late. K’Naan and Adam Levine of Maroon 5 – Bang Bang off the great 2009 album, Troubadour.
K’naan ft. Adam Levine – Bang Bang (Official Video) found on Pop
E) Finally, mochi beats sent me the first mash-up I’ve heard to make use of anything from the new (and superb) Arcade Fire album. Here mochi beats layers in Kanye West, Consequence, Christina Perri and Cassette Kids. Get it. Lying Hearts (Kanye West + Arcade Fire + Christina Perri + Consequence + Cassette Kids) by mochi beats
