Fresh off a trip to Austin for SXSW, the fellas of Jamaican Queens have made their way back home Detroit. The self-described “trap-pop” act consists of former Prussia band members Ryan Spencer and Adam Pressley along with drummer Ryan Clancy. Their debut album Wormfood might be the quirkiest album of 2013 with catchier than expected hooks amid waves of synth and vocal distortion. My employer brought the trio in for a three song live performance a few weeks ago and I came away more than impressed at the band’s passion (especially in performing at 4pm in a office setting). Stream “Water”, “Kids Get Away” and the entire Wormfood album below and purchase via Bandcamp or Amazon.

Catch Jamaican Queens with Mykki Blanco at the Magic Stick tonight. Show is at 8pm and tickets are $12. Be there.
