I use the term “heavy hitters” often on Remix Friday, but that couldn’t be more accurate this week. Not only do Shoe Scene Symphony and probably my favorite discovery of 2013, Kaytranada, enter more quality remixes in the Hall of Remix Fame. We also get surprising reworkings from Yeasayer, Mercury Award Winner James Blake and Aeroplane. Aeroplane‘s re-imagining of Mayer Hawthorne and Pharrell’s ear worm “Wine Glass Woman” is particularly repeat-ready. Aside from those gems, MSMR’s NICITA blesses Alex Winston’s latest (you might recall NICITA’s remix of “Breezeblocks” from DJ Double A’s banger of a mixtape) and Amtrac‘s remix hit streak continues with a cut from The Swiss. This week’s throwback remix is Cut Copy‘s take on Midnight Juggernaut‘s “45 and Rising”. I heard it around the time In Ghost Colours came out, which made Cut Copy a playlist constant during the summer of 2008. Also, cop Cut Copy’s new record, Free Your Mind on Tuesday, Nov. 5th (Amazon).
