The Roots – When The People Cheer

artworks-000075887888-ih51y5-t500x500I cannot fathom how The Roots even had time to craft a new album with nightly duties on “The Tonight Show”, touring and Questlove’s DJ schedule. Either way, the Philadelphia (or iladelph, if you will) legends are readying their 11th (!) album, And Then You Shoot Your Cousin, for release on May 13th. CoS says the new work will be a concept album of sorts like undun, which is perfectly fine with me. Lead single “When The People Cheer” offers up undun-like storytelling over a low-key jazz/hip-hop fusion of sound, while Black Thought profiles a character with a sexual addiction. Stream “When The People Cheer” below.
