This week’s edition of Remix Friday features plenty of JayeL Audio favorites being remixed by first time RF remixers and many I forsee will be around in future weeks. While I’m a huge fan of ATL’s B.o.B., I never really loved “Headband”, but Coucheron’s dose of tropical synth was much appreciated. Elsewhere in the land of hip-hop remixes, SKULS made Childish Gambino’s “3005” even more of a windows down banger. Sebastian Carter even makes his second RF appearance in a row with a deep house rendition of Flume’s ultimate anthem “Insane”. Throwback of the week comes from DATA and a bass and synth remix of one of La Roux’s underrated tracks “I’m Not A Toy”.
Much like my fandom for Jessie Ware and Sam Smith in non-remix-land, I couldn’t decide which remix was the best. Alex Adair’s take on “Say You Love Me” brings Ware back into dance diva land, but still utilizes her gorgeous vocals and maximizes the choir appearance. The Grant Nelson remix of Sam Smith’s “I’m Not The Only One” doesn’t drown out Smith’s emotion, while sprinkling some house dust on the track. Both excellent choices for the top remix (es) of the week.
