Don’t be ashamed if you have an addictive relationship with George Maple‘s music. I had her Flume-produced single “Talk Talk” on repeat for likely longer than the average human being and again once JackLNDN released a superb remix. Maple’s intoxicating vocals strike a similar chord to Jessie Ware’s with me, but the Future Classic artist’s is clearly more interested in experimentation.
“Vacant Space” is the spacey title track of her soon to be released debut EP and features a hook that is nearly as addictive as “Talk Talk”, but in a different way. Maple’s pipes are layered upon each other and ranged from swirling hushed tones to full power amid Flume’s haunting production. The song’s vibe feels like you’ve entered Maple’s inner monologue and are experiencing her questions and emotions as she is. The flashes of synth and circulating vocals almost paint an audible tour of conflicting ideas and pain. Its quite an effective landscape for an artist that won’t be overlooked.
