Any time I see a song listed as “featuring Sharon Van Etten” it is usually a good enough reason for me to press ‘play’. That rule still applies after checking out “To Keep And Be Kept”, the latest from recent Fat Possum Records signees Jack Ladder & The Dreamlanders. The nostalgic rock cut serves as an early offering of Jack Ladder’s 4th album, Playmates, due out 2/24. Ladder’s deep rusty vocals (reminiscent of Matt Berninger of The National and Nick Cave) meld nicely with SVE’s heavenly tones over a production that has the glow of ’80s rock along with well-placed slide guitar.
