Chaz Bundick has been quite the chameleon over his career. He’s been content to experiment with dance music (Les Sins), art and even lend a hand to Chromeo’s latest album, White Women. Arguably, most of his success has come from the rock and dance-inspired sounds of his main project, Toro Y Moi. New single “Empty Nesters” from upcoming album What For? shows Bundick is still apt to experiment drawing from inspirations like Big Star and Talking Heads. David Byrne almost feels present on “Empty Nesters” with hazy production that glows and flutters with synth, distortion and an inescapable melody.
