Its been a busy week in just about every aspect of my life, so I’ll just be thankful it is finally Friday. Let’s get to the music.
I’ve been thoroughly addicted to RATATAT’s return track “Cream On Chrome”, so it wasn’t much of a stretch for me to fall in love with wait what’s addition of Drake’s “0 to 100” on “100 to Chrome.” RAC proved once again that he can take a song I did not enjoy into something I enjoyed immensely with a blissful take on Elliphant’s “Never Been In Love”. I’ve almost hit my limit of Calvin Harris/Ellie Goulding “Outside” remixes, but Funk LeBlanc’s retro-take was irresistible (the artwork is epic too).
Elsewhere, other RF-favorites like Allure, Disciples, Bondax, Louis Futon added more noteworthy reworkings to their production catalogs and newcomer (at least to me) Brother In Arms nearly stole the show with a house-inspired take on Love Taps’ “Back For More”.
Lefti claimed the ‘top remix of the week’ throne with a stellar take on Big Data’s “The Business of Emotion” featuring White Sea. The NYC producer caught my attention with an update of Solidisco’s “Unreal”, but his Big Data rework is reminiscent of Justice’s bass and groove heavy sound and shows even more promise. #TGIF
