When Remix Friday favorite producers elevate their game from reworks to originals, I always root for their continued success. NYC-based Gryffin (aka Dan Griffin) is the latest remix producer to strike out on his own after dropping party-ready remix after remix for the likes of Tove Lo, Banks and one of my personal favorites, Years & Years.
Australian singer Josef Salvat was another artist recently reimagined by Gryffin and collaborated with him on “Heading Home”. According to Gryffin, the song originally started as a demo that featured the first verse, which Dan molded with new chords and transformed with each contributing from New York and London to the final product. The result is a head-nodding and hypnotic original production that balances Salvat’s heavenly vocals with Gryffin’ infectious dance floor-ready sounds.
