I hope everyone is staying safe, sane, and healthy in this crazy time. As I said previously, music has helped me escape mentally while alleviating the need to leave our home (except for food, exercise, dog walks, etc.). The time at home as also allowed me to DJ on a more consistent basis and hopefully improve my mixing skills.
The mix sessions have been affectionately title Saturdays In Tha House and sounds have ranged from house, indie dance, soul remixes, and electronic music classics. Below are Mixcloud links to each set and a short description of each.
Saturdays In Tha House – Vol. I – We covered a lot of ground on the first edition with house, electro, trance, and a bit of EDM. A-Trak, Jean Tonique, Disclosure, COAST .80, Weiss, and more all made appearances.
Saturdays In Tha House – Vol. II – Round II took a nostalgic trip back with indie dance remixes and classic dance tracks. Old favorites from Soulwax, The Knocks, Crystal Waters, Modjo, Duck Sauce, Cut Copy, Axwell, and more are included.
Saturdays In Tha House – Vol. III – Part 3 of the mix series went even further back in time with some disco-inspired backyard grilling remixes (RIP Bill Withers) and dove into some new house and disco efforts. Spoiler alert: this is my favorite mix of the bunch. Check out sounds from Primo Disco, Zikomo, Tensnake, Purple Disco Machine, Channel Tres, and more.
Saturdays In Tha House – Vol. IV – This mix was all about escaping to some place tropical (at least mentally). In order to transport myself somewhere with a soft sand beach, bright sunshine, tropical drinks, and a scene that would allow me to try out my new l??au-ready shirt, I definitely needed music to match. Viceroy, Lord Echo, Basic Tape, The Magician, Mercer, Bonobo, Cut Copy, Oliver Nelson, and others made the perfect soundtrack to fit the vibe.
If you’ve been watching live on Instagram or favoriting the mixes on Mixcloud, thanks for hanging out/listening and making this time at home extra fun. I’ll probably transition to Twitch for future live streams, but stay tuned for more.
